Venetian itineraries
François Pinault, a wealthy art collector as well as a well-known entrepeneur in the fashion industry and not just, has invested 20 million euro for the renovation of the ancient Punta della Dogana, the Custom’s House, at the entrance of the Grand Canal. Tadao Ando has provided the project and since 2009 the building has hosted contemporary art pieces from Pinault’s collection.
Works by Felix Gonzales Torres, Maurizio Cattelan, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Takashi Murakami, Charles Ray, Mike Kelley, Rudolf Stingel --just to mention some-- are featuring in a space constantly conversing with the ancient architecture, a fascinating dialogue between the past and the present.
Some more pieces of the collection are exhibited also at Palazzo Grassi.
