Venetian itineraries
Rialto was the commercial center of the Republic of Venice. Here there arrived silk and spices from the Far East, wood, metals and Flemish wool and more and more. This is also where banks were located and the bazaar would attract merchants from all over the world.
Today there are the seafood market and the standstalls selling fruits and vegetables and its visit is fun and of interest for those trying to understand Venetian culinary specialities.
Then, the tour goes on and we reach the ancient red-light district and, passing through hidden calli and campielli, we will see San Polo and San Giacomo dall’Orio squares and its ancient palaces. From here we can end the tour at the Frari campo with its imposing church, where you can admire the masterpieces by Giovanni Bellini, Titian and other artists.
